Games I really enojoy are the ones that have huge emphasis on pvp. Thats the greatest part of games imo - the player interactions with one another. Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 will both be very pvp based. Diablo 3 will have more pve stuff probably, since its more of that style, but Guild Wars 2... The name says it all - GUILD wars. The name is basically saying HUGE PVP BATTLES.
Guild Wars 2 will have a lot of very fun "quests". They said in the PAX 2011 meeting that they wanna remove the boring "collect 10 boar fang" quests. They are just the one same quest over and over again. Its extremely mondaine and boring. Guild Wars 2 will have something quite different. Its a progressing mission lines. I'll elaborate one example.
Say you are just exploring around and meet a small village. One of the villagers comes to you and asks for help for an incoming tauren march attack. You will see a horde of tauren running towards the village and start destroying it. If you kill them before they destroy the village, you will get rewarded. However if you fail to kill them, they will take over the village. Then the quest is to retake the village. If you fail that, they will start increasing their army size, getting some new fireweapons and siege weapons... its a constant progress.
Those kind of quests seem like a lot of fun.
Diablo 3 however, has one thing that any other game has not - Harcore(Hardcore from hereon out). Meaning, that if you die once, thats it. Thats IT. Your character + equipment is gone for good. Bye bye good character, time to make a new one. It seems like too harsh and not worth it, but believe, it is. I've played 5 years HC Diablo 2 and its so much fun. I rarely die, but the exitement is always there. Although its very unlikely that HC in D3 will be like it was in D2, since its very strict in diablo 2. They have released not that much about the game so I don't have quite enough solid information to blog about yet. There are a lot of speculations but those are just rumors that have zero base.
I'm tired, gonna go to sleep now, gonna be explaining about D3 and GW2 a lot more tomorrow.
Great to be blogging again. Till next time, nighty night.
